Thisday Newspapers Bureau Chief in Enugu Comrade Chris Isiguzo has emerged the President of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ.
Isiguzo, until the Abeokuta election was two time Vice President (South East) of the the NUJ. He defeated the incumbent President, Waheed Odusile at the NUJ election which took place during the union’s Triennial Delegates Conference held in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.
Over 800 delegates converged to elect their preferred executives that will pilot the affairs of the union for the next three years.
Isiguzo polled 346 votes to beat his closest rival, the incumbent president Waheed Odusile who garnered 329 votes.
According to the result as announced by the returning officer, Benson Upah, Dele Atunbi of the Nigeria Television Authority came third with 101 votes,
Abiodun Olalere 56 votes, Seiyefa Uzaka, a Director with the Bayelsa State Ministry of Information, 30 votes while Jacob Edi scored 16 votes, and Otunba Mike Aladenika 8 votes.
