Aisha Yesufu on Ekweremadu’s alleged defection

By Amah Baldwin

One of the conveners of the BringBackOurGirls, BBOG, advocacy group, Aisha Yesufu, has reacted to the reported plan of the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, to decamp to the All Progressives Congress APC.
Aisha Yesufu expressed disgust that Nigerian politicians had become unreliable, moving much like a butterfly.

She wondered the reason politicians should not stay one place at a time.
In a tweet, obtained from her Tweeter handle, Aisha asked: “what is this story about Ike Ekweremadu moving to the APC?”
“While we wait and see, just know this is a Siamese twins syndrome.” #APCPDP.

However, Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu, a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the South East, has denied the report and speculations making the rounds that he was on the verge of dumping the party.

Ekweremadu, who reacted in a Facebook post, said he was still a member of the main opposition party, the PDP.
He did not elaborate.
It was reported that the choice of Peter Obi, former governor of Anambra state as running mate of PDP presidential candidate in the forthcoming 2019 general election did not go down well with some PDP leaders in the South East, including Ekweremadu.
