2019: Enugu West PDP hands over candidates to God @ prayer mega rally

Enugu West Minister’s Forum, 10th December 2018 organised a one-day prayer rally to flag off campaigns for the 2019 general elections. 

Udi, Udi Local Government Council headquarters played host to the rally which attracted participants from across the five local government areas of the Enugu West Senatorial District and beyond.

Pastor Don Odunze (Jnr.) was the Guest Speaker and preacher. 

The man of God electrified the congregation when he projected that Enugu State would not witness negativity or distractions in the coming polls. 

Reverend Odunze told the massive congregation: “We came here today to paralyse every blood suckling demon and the forces of darkness that may attack our leaders.”

“This is election year; the seat of power is a seat of clash of powers.

“But nobody can shed blood and go free. “Don’t get power at the expense of blood, the blood of Mr. Innocent, the blood of the poor.” 

He reminded politicians that calamity awaits evil doers.

Odunze recalled that ahead of 2015 elections, Enugu commenced its political activities for the poll at Oji-River with prayers, and commended the leadership for their unprecedented closeness to God. According to him, it is only in Enugu State that you see political office holders handing over their election or reelection to God.

He turned to serving political office holders. 

For His Excellency, Professor Ike Ekweremadu and His Excellency, The Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, it is clean bill of health. 

Rev. Pastor Odunze noted that following the declaration of Enugu State as very safe in the hands of God, four years ago, the Coal City has witnessed peace and good governance. 

He remarked: “I am not from Enugu State, but Imo. I am not partisan, but pastor. Therefore, I pray God to preserve this land.

“I am not here for politics, but to pray for some personalities who have performed excellently well in office.

“If you travel from Oji-River to Awgu, to Igbo Eze and all other places, you can see development. There are good roads, water supply, good education, bursary among others.”

He paid tribute to Senator Ekweremadu.

“Ikeoha is truly Ikeoha. I believe in giving people roses to smell it. I give people praises when they are alive. Ikeoha deserves kudos for quality representation. He has done so much great things that the list is endless.”

Odunze urged PDP candidates for the forthcoming general elections to run visionary programmes for the people to appreciate them. 

“We are looking for people who will be in office, leave office and walk the streets without anybody stoning them,” he demanded.

Highlight of the service was special prayer session for the protection of candidates for the 2019 election by the ministers in the temple. They are Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi; Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu; National and state Assembly candidates as well as sitting public office holders.

In his speech,.Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu’s, accompanied by his wife, Dr. Nwanneka Ekweremadu. 

was full of elation for the victory decreed and declared upon him and the lives of  other PDP candidates in the elections.

He praised God and declared that his political carrier had never been turbulent as to witness shedding of blood. According to him, “I stand on the Alter of God and say I belong to God Almighty.”

Ekweremadu also paid glowing tribute to Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for the honour done Enugu West Senatorial District by his esteemed presence at the service, even at short notice. “In everything that concerns Enugu West, the Governor has always shown interest,” he recalled. 

The Deputy Senate President did not leave out local government Chairmen, traditional rulers, clergymen, PDP officials at all levels and supporters and prayed for God’s protection and guidance upon them.

Other dignitaries at the rally were the Deputy Governor of Enugu State, Chief Mrs. Cecilia Ezeilo; House of Representatives member for Udi/Ezeagu federal constituency, Hon. Dennis Oguerinwa-Amadi, his counterpart for Oji-River/Awgu/Aninri Hon. Toby Okechukwu; PDP Secretary, Hon. Cletus Akalusi (Kwashy; Enugu West Zonal Vice Chairman, Ozo Okey Ozoani, among numerous others.
